Haddonfield is a lovely town during the winter. The lights glisten each night along Kings Highway, and are even more beautiful in the snow. The long slow winter slog through December and January has drawn to a close. As we move further into February, the days are becoming noticeably longer and just a few days have shown a bit of spring promise with weather above 50 degrees.
Before we get lost in all of this, we should remember that we still have 1 more month of winter. As you move along through winter's final month, here are 5 super fun activities to try by yourself or with your family. Each has come highly recommended to me, and should not be missed. I'll be giving out prizes to anyone that completes all 5 activities.
1) Eat Outside at the Haddonfield Bistro.
I know it's cold out, but the Haddonfield Bistro still has tables and chairs on the sidewalk. Muster up your sense of adventure, and a few heavy coats if you own them, and request a sidewalk table. Coffee or hot chocolate pair nicely with the atmosphere.
2) Hit Every Pot Hole on Grove St. on your way back from Wegmans.
It's not exactly Six Flags, but it will get you screaming. 1 point for every pot hole you hit. 10 bonus points for hitting them all. Automatic win if you snap an axle.
3) Slip and Slide in the Road in the 3 Days It Takes to Get Them Cleared After a Snow Fall.
-1 point for hitting a curb. -2 points for hitting other cars. Automatic loss if you hit a pedestrian.
4) Pretend to Be a Life-Like Statue on the Broken Haddonfield PATCO Escalator.
This is a great activity to try if you are frozen from spending some time outside, and what to get warmed back up. Simply stand exactly half-way between the bottom and top on the excalator and stare blankly at PATCO passengers as they walk by. For added fun, make eye contact with the passengers and follow them with your eyes while keeping your body completely still.
5) Take a Summer Stroll.
WARNING: This suggestion is for extreme activity lovers only. Dress the family up as if it were summer time. Bathing suits, beach towels, flip flops, bicycles are all appropriate. Then, go for a walk around the block or through downtown while informing your neighbors and on-lookers that you're down to Wedgewood for a quick dunk. Extra points if you break out the grill and throw a BBQ in your yard.
