Part 3: The Essential Remedy

I offer my own story as an example of what the untapped potential my black brethren, not unlike anyone else, can achieve.

I became a naturalized U.S. citizen two decades ago, having migrated from my tiny, English-speaking Caribbean island-home.  Born into a large, poor black family, a solid education foundation offered a head-start in my life.  It catapulted me into the legal profession, training, consecutively, in the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Caribbean.  I earned a Ph.D. degree in Political Science in Switzerland.  I served as a diplomat; taught international law as an adjunct university lecturer; and developed proficiency in Spanish, French and Portuguese.  My two daughters followed in my footsteps, one becoming a physician; the other, like me, became an attorney-at-law.

My accomplishments, needless to say, are obviously not everyone’s destiny or ambition.  However, each individual has a natural right to be afforded the opportunity to “cut the Gordian Knot”, so to speak, and thus be unleashed to embark upon his own journey of self-discovery, pursuing avenues of self-realization otherwise un-dreamed of.

Too many American blacks today find themselves waiting in needless obscurity for an opportunity to replicate stories such as mine- and so much more, in this the richest nation on God’s earth.
