HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Haddon Township is declaring itself as South Jersey's epicenter for happy hour and starting a new initiative to prove it.
Next week, the township will launch "Almost Friday," a town-wide initiative of food and drink specials at different businesses from 3-6 p.m. each Thursday.
The first will be July 31. So far, SHOP Haddon has shared nine restaurants and bars offering deals during that timeframe.
The program, which brands Haddon Township as South Jersey's "happy hour capital," is aimed at boosting local businesses.
"I am proud to endorse the 'Almost Friday' Happy Hour program," said Mayor Randall Teague, "as it provides a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, support local businesses and celebrate what Haddon Township has to offer. "It's a great way to start the weekend and highlight the unique charm of our town."
Haddon Township's bar scene is uniquely positioned, since the municipality neighbors several historically dry towns that prohibit bars from operating.
