LAWNSIDE, NJ — A woman was killed after the SUV she was in hit a tree along the New Jersey Turnpike on Tuesday, New Jersey State Police said.
At around 2:33 a.m., troopers responded to the southbound area near mile marker 28.6 for a vehicle crash.
Based on early evidence, a Volkswagen SUV went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.
The front-seat passenger, a 26-year-old woman, was left with serious injuries.
The driver and rear-seat passenger both sustained minor injuries.
All three were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The 26-year-old woman died from her injuries at 4:35 a.m., according to authorities.
Her identity is not being released at this time as the case is still under review.
