
Timothy J. Henderson, MD, FAAOS, was recently appointed as an orthopedic surgeon at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. He specializes in orthopedic trauma, sports medicine and minimally-invasive joint replacement.
Dr. Henderson comes to Lourdes from Rockdale Orthopedic Center in Conyers, GA. Prior to that, Dr. Henderson served as director of Orthopedic Surgery at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Columbus, GA.
Board-certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Henderson earned his undergraduate degree at Swarthmore College before graduating from George Washington University School of Medicine with a degree in medicine.

He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Emory University. Dr. Henderson completed a sports medicine fellowship with the department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of California Los Angeles.
Dr. Henderson has presented his research at national conferences. His research has also been published in numerous medical journals. He was named the Key Day Orthopedic Society Research Award winner in 2004 for his work on osteoarthritis in the morbidly obese population. He has also served on numerous hospital committees.

Throughout his career, Dr. Henderson has volunteered his time. He served as a team physician and head trainer for Rockdale County schools in Rockdale, GA. In 2010, Dr. Henderson traveled to Haiti to assist in the medical relief mission and provide medical care to Haitians following the 2010 earthquake.
Dr. Henderson is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
