Haddonfield had sneak peek at Chris Christie-Mitt Romney team
Less then 3 years ago, 2 big names in national politics joined forces at borough hall.
With rumors swirling about the possibility of GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney tapping N.J. Governor Chris Christie as his running mate, it's worth remembering that the two made a joint appearance in Haddonfield just less than three years ago.
At the time, Christie was running for the Republican nomination for governor against conservative Steve Lonegan and Assemblyman Rick Merkt -- and was anything but a sure thing, as Lonegan was winning support from strong conservatives.
Romney, a presidential hopeful a year earlier who lost out to U.S. Sen. John McCain, voiced his support for Christie in late May 2009 on the steps of borough hall. He noted that New Jersey voters had tried liberal, and now it was time to give conservative a try.

Christie, of course, won the nomination and went on to top incumbent Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine, before placing his stamp on the state and becoming a nationally recognized figure.
In recent weeks, Christie's name has regularly been among potential vice presidential candidates for Romney, should he win the nomination. A recent Quinnipiac poll, however, may limit Christie's chances.

It noted that adding Christie would increase Romney's support in New Jersey, but not enough to give Romney the state's electoral votes.
