Camden County Home to Five of New Jersey's 40 Hate Groups

The AC Skins, the Vinlanders Social Club of New Jersey and the Nation of Islam all have a presence in Camden County, according to the SPLC.

New Jersey is home to 40 hate groups, five of which are located in Camden County, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Two of the groups are sects of the AC Skins, classified as a racist skinhead group.

The Atlantic City Skinheads/AC Skins, with groups in Camden and Pine Hill, is the largest racist skinhead group in New Jersey, according to the Anti-Defamation League. It has the most individual sects on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s hate map, with 14 throughout Atlantic, Cape May, Ocean, Camden and Burlington counties.

Camden is also home to the Nation of Islam, a black separatist group.

It also has groups in Willingboro, Newark and Plainfield.

The Vinlanders Social Club of New Jersey, also classified as a racist skinhead group, has a sect in Cherry Hill. It also has a sect in Point Pleasant Beach.

The group was established in Indiana as an alliance of racist skinhead groups from Indiana, Ohio and Michigan, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

The total number of active hate groups nationwide is actually down 17 percent from 2013, as more people are taking to the Internet to spread hate speech and acting alone without the backing of a group, according to the Burlington County Times.
