Camden County Prepares for Wednesday Snowstorm

Between one and two inches of snow may fall on Camden County.

The Camden County Department of Public Works is preparing for a storm that could dump up to two inches of snow on the region Wednesday afternoon.

All snow districts will be covered in anticipation of the second snowfall of the season.

“We will have trucks loaded today with product and start pretreating all roadways in advance of this weather event,” Camden County Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, said. “The department will be working around the clock, keeping an eye on roadway conditions and monitoring weather forecasts as we get closer to snow fall.”

At the public works complex in Lindenwold, more than 70 pieces of equipment stand ready to keep county roadways passable and motorists moving. When the weather becomes treacherous personnel will be dispatched to 12 winter maintenance districts to salt and plow 1,200 lane miles of roadway across the county.

“As always, when the weather turns hazardous we recommend that motorists remain cautious and give themselves extra time to reach their destinations,” Leonard said. “Anyone on the roadways during these times should be prepared to encounter adverse road conditions. In addition, please be conscious of DPW vehicles on the roadways as they work to treat clear our highway system.”
