Camden Students Find Neverland at Appel Farm Friday, May 2 – Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Appel Farm Arts & Music Center

Appel Farm Arts & Music Center announces a new and exciting partnership with Camden’s Charter School Network’s theatre program. To prepare for their upcoming production of “Peter Pan”, 45 students from Camden’s Promise Charter School will travel to Appel Farm from Friday, May 2 to Saturday, May 3 for an intensive arts camp experience.

During these two days, students will participate in workshops on the fundamentals of theatre such as voice and speech, movement, and character development as well as camp activities such as bonfires and games. This immersive experience in Appel Farm’s rural camp environment, will allow students to have fun bonding with each other and building trust as a cast while making personal discoveries.

“The valuable time spent at Appel Farm will allow our students to bond and grow together as a cast and friends, that in turn, will lead them to encourage and support one another during rehearsals and performances.” said Francis Iannuzzi, director of “Peter Pan” and math teacher at Camden’s Promise Charter School.

“This is an exciting development in Appel Farm’s programming,” said Kerri Sullivan, Appel Farm’s Director of Arts Education and Outreach. “We’ve been providing residencies and performances in South Jersey’s schools for years and welcoming children and adults to Appel Farm for decades. Our Arts Camp has been transforming lives for fifty-four years. This new initiative, which combines these programs, is an outstanding opportunity for schools. We are excited to welcome Camden’s Promise Charter School as our first partner.”

Camden’s Promise Mainstage Theater’s spring musical “Peter Pan” will run on May 27 and 28, with doors opening at 5:45 p.m., in the Promise Academy Center located at 820 Lois Ave. in Camden, NJ.
