Carz N' Toyz Raised $80,000 for Sick Children

The 2016 Carz N’ Toyz Annual Charity Dinner and Auction, held on Friday, October 14 at Tavistock Country Club, was a huge success, surpassing the previous year’s attendance for the 5th consecutive year. According to Carz N’ Toyz President, Sam Lacroce, “This event continues to grow each year. We are grateful to our many supporters for their kindness and generosity.” He added, “Each year we see many new faces, a sure sign that our message of hope for sick children is being heard and received with enthusiasm.”

Proceeds from the dinner will purchase toys, books, defibrillators, car seats for special needs children, medical monitoring equipment, TV monitors and other items specifically requested by Carz N’ Toys beneficiaries, Virtua, Weisman Children’s’ Rehabilitation Hospital and The Osborn Center for Family Health at Lourdes in Camden. At this year’s dinner, the group presented a $30,000 check to Osborn to help purchase a state-of-the-art ultra sound machine.

The surf and turf dinner was followed by a spirited auction that featured donated items from local merchants, like a diamond pendant from Morton & Rudolph and two dinners for 10 by Chef Nunzio Petruno. In total 12 valuable items were auctioned by Carz N’ Toyz Treasurer, Bob Paglione with a little help from Peter Hovnanian. “We can’t say thank you enough to the local businesses and individuals who donated items. It was our best yet.”

The next Carz N’ Toyz event is the Annual Toy Run Saturday December 10. It begins at Caffe Aldo Lamberti at 9 a.m. with a complimentary breakfast. From there a caravan, led by a truck full of toys, will form and drive to Virtua Voorhees to deliver the toys. Last year more than 100 cars participated and over 1,000 toys were delivered.
