Catholic Partnership Schools Hosts Beef & Beer Dinner Feb. 23
Annual Event, Honoring Beloved Coach James Gillespie, Funds Athletic Programs for K-8 Youths in Inner City Schools

Catholic Partnership Schools will host the 13th Annual James Gillespie, Sr., Memorial Beef and Beer fundraiser to benefit CPS’ athletic programs, Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at P.J. Whelihan’s in Cherry Hill, N.J. The theme of the event is “Educating Our Athletes.”
James Gillespie, Sr., was a long-time youth baseball, softball and basketball coach and mentored many young people in South Jersey. The Beef and Beer fundraiser was established by his children to support Catholic Partnership Schools and its athletic programs, including intramural and traveling boys and girls baseball, basketball, and cross-country track. The all-you-can-eat event also includes wine and soft drinks, a 50-50 raffle and a silent auction.
“Each year, this fun event provides opportunities to our kids that they otherwise wouldn’t have,” says Sister Karen Dietrich, executive director of Catholic Partnership Schools. “Sports participation is important for childhood development, and we count on the generous support of the community to make programs available in our schools.”
