Child Porn Found At Teacher's Home In Haddon Township: Prosecutor

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A teacher was charged after child sexual-abuse materials were found Tuesday in his Haddon Township home, authorities said.
Following a collaborative investigation, law enforcement executed a search warrant on David Checchio's home, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office (CCPO). David Checchio was subsequently charged with third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Checchio, 53, works at Cumberland Regional High School in Bridgeton. The school website lists him as a special-education teacher.

The CCPO informed the Cumberland Regional School District of the charge against Checchio, according to school officials. The district was assured that none of its students were involved in the case.
"We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement regarding this investigation and have taken all necessary measures to ensure the continued safety and well-being of our students," said a district statement emailed to Patch.

The investigation was a joint effort between the CCPO, Haddon Township police and Homeland Security Investigations — a unit of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Checchio's charge stems from the possession of child sexual-abuse materials — photographs, videos or other media depicting children engaged in prohibited sexual acts, according to state law.
