The Haddonfield Board of Commissioners on Friday unanimously approved the purchase of 15 parking kiosks for $152,450.
The approval came in a special meeting at 5:15 p.m. Friday at the Municipal Hall after the commissioners had a sneak preview of what the winning kiosk, designed and distributed by the Global Co., looked like in the Tanner Street historic district. The meeting was over by 5:20 p.m.
The borough plans to use the kiosks to replace more than half of the street meters that regulate about 950 parking spaces. The kiosks should start appearing late this month and be completely installed by mid-fall, officials said.

Tanner Street is the only business-district street in which the meters will initially be installed. Some shop owners have had concerns about whether shoppers will object to not getting a 12-minute courtesy currently allowed on meters and having to walk to a machine to get a ticket and then back to their cars to display it.
