Donald Trump Reaction Takes A Positive Turn In Haddonfield

Haddonfield, NJ -- “Love Trumps Hate,” was the message a group of Haddonfield Memorial High School students were looking to deliver earlier this month when they wrote a series of sidewalk chalk messages in front of the high school.

The message was not meant to be anti-Donald Trump, according to the Haddonfield Sun. Rather, the students intended it as a message of love and unity as tempers flare following the election of the Republican candidate to the White House on Nov. 8.

About 25 students came together to write the messages in the early morning hours of Nov. 14 to let students know this was a loving, supporting and positive community, according to the report.

The messages, which also included the phrase “Build Kindness Not Walls,” were met with a mostly positive reaction. Some of the messages were washed away with water by the end of the day, according to the report.

Reactions to Trump’s elections have been wide ranging. Of course there were protests following the election, including some that became violent.

There were protests at Rutgers University campuses in New Brunswick and Newark.

In Princeton, town officials and community representatives held a town hall meeting to discuss harassment among the immigrant community, including children, in town, and the Princeton DREAM Team has called on Princeton University to become a sanctuary campus.

Haddonfield junior Chloe Fontaine wanted her voice to be heard also, but in a positive way, which led to her organizing the street chalk messages, according to the report.
