Reports of nighttime drone flights in New Jersey emerged a month ago. It remains unclear who's controlling the aircraft, for what reason(s) or whether they even come from a singular entity.
Federal agencies have been spearheading the investigation. While they've found no evidence that they're threatening safety or national security, the lack of answers has frustrated many New Jersey residents, police departments and politicians.
The FBI is asking that anyone who spots a drone call them immediately: Report possible drone sightings by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submitting an online tip to the FBI tip line.
