No Damage Reported, PATCO Suspended As Earthquake Hits Camden Co.

Some of Camden's taller buildings were evacuated out of caution, but no damage or injuries have been reported in the county.

CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — Camden County felt the 4.8-magnitude earthquake that rocked the region Friday morning. But no damage has been reported, according to a county spokesperson.

PATCO and NJ Transit both suspended service to conduct inspections. NJ Transit reports 20-minute delays in both directions, but the agency's buses are cross-honoring PATCO tickets.

Some of Camden's larger buildings were evacuated out of an abundance of caution.

The county communications center received a high volume of 911 calls right after the mid-morning earthquake. But the county hasn't received any reports of damage or injuries as of this writing.

Camden County's Office of Emergency Management advised the public to only call 911 for immediate emergencies. The emergency office and Camden County Public Safety have been communicating with local agencies and other authorities on the matter.

The earthquake was recorded at 10:23 a.m. near Whitehouse Station, Hunterdon County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Its impact was felt throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
