Elizabeth Haddon Elementary Recognized as National Blue Ribbon School

The Haddonfield school was one of 15 in New Jersey that were recognized for excellence this year.

Elizabeth Haddon Elementary School in Haddonfield is one of 15 schools in New Jersey that have been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2015, Gov. Chris Christie said on Tuesday.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students either achieve very high learning standards or are making notable improvements in closing the achievement gap.

The Department of Defense Education Activity, the Bureau of Indian Education, and the Council for American Private Education nominate schools, who then must demonstrate high or strongly improving student scores on state or national assessments in the last year tested.

“New Jersey is known for having one of the strongest public education systems in the nation as well as some of the finest private schools, and all those recognized today exemplify the high standards we have in the Garden State,” Christie said. “The National Blue Ribbon Schools award affirms the kind of success that teachers, administrators and students can achieve when working together with a shared vision of ensuring that each child is on the path to success throughout their education and in the future.”

“A good education is the key to unlocking a child’s true potential and setting them on a path to success,” U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez said. “The National Blue Ribbon is a tremendous honor, and New Jersey’s Blue Ribbon Schools have set the standard for others to follow. I commend New Jersey’s educators for their continued dedication and hard work in shaping young minds and providing all of their students with the tools they’ll need to succeed in life.”

“I am proud that 15 New Jersey schools have earned the tremendous distinction of being selected as 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools,” U.S. Sen. Cory Booker said. “We know that the best investment we can make as a state, and as a country, is in the quality of our young people’s education. This announcement recognizes the extraordinary efforts of these New Jersey’s schools to empower and equip their students to succeed.”
