Girls' Soccer – The big news here is the girls were finally scored on. After nine straight shutouts to open the season including Tuesday’s 4-0 over Overbrook, the Bulldawgs were tested by West Deptford before emerging with a 2-1 victory and finishing the week with a 10-0 record. Emily Carson scored twice in the Overbook game, while Katie Johnston had both goals against West Deptford to support the 10-save effort by keeper Kellie Riley.
Field Hockey – The girls also raised their record to 10-0. Tara Black scored twice and Cat Thomas had three assists in a 3-1 win over Collingswood. On Friday, Thomas had two goals and an assist and Christine Wolf also scored twice as the Bulldawgs overwhelmed Woodbury, 6-1.
Tennis – 17 and 0 and counting. The Bulldawgs blanked four opponents last week - Woodbury, Moorestown, Sterling and West Deptford. They began the week by advancing all three singles players – Taylor Ng, Erica Pascocella and Amanda Lanciano and both doubles teams to the quarterfinals of the South Jersey Interscholastic Coaches Tournament.
Football – On Friday night, a pair of West Deptford fumbles early in the second half led to two Haddonfield touchdowns and the Bulldawgs rode that momentum to a 31-21 victory in a huge Colonial Conference Liberty Division contest. Dan Ciemniecki returned the first fumble 60 yards for a touchdown and Chris Dengler scored on runs of 19 and five yards to lead the Bulldawgs who are now 3-0.
This week all eyes will be on the boys’ soccer team. Earlier this season the program notched its 600th victory. This week could see Coach Joe Falana reach the same lofty plateau. He stands at 598 but with wins over Woodbury on Monday and Sterling on Wednesday Falana will be there. They will also play West Deptford for the second time this season on Friday.
The girls’ soccer team also has games with Woodbury and Sterling this week, while the field hockey team plays Sterling on Tuesday and hosts West Deptford on Thursday.
The tennis team has a full plate as usual with matches this week against Gateway, Haddon Heights, Overbrook and Millville while the cross-country teams set their sights on the South Jersey Open next weekend.
The football team is on the road again for a Thursday night contest with Sterling.
