Fire at Cooper CEO's Home Ruled Arson

No specific cause of death has been determined for John Sheridan or his wife, Joyce, according to the Courier Post.

Cooper Health System CEO John Sheridan and his wife Joyce died after a fire was intentionally set in the bedroom of their home in Somerset County, the Courier Post reports.

However, authorities had not yet determined the specific cause of death for either as of Wednesday, according to the report.

John Sheridan, 72, was pronounced dead on the scene early Sunday morning, while Joyce Sheridan, 69, was transported to Princeton Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

John Sheridan is credited with helping to revive Camden and transforming the health care system, and served in the administration of former Gov. Thomas Kean and on the transitional teams for Chris Christie and Christie Todd Whitman, according to nj.com.

He became Senior Executive Vice President of Cooper in 2005, and president and CEO in 2008, according to philly.com.

John Sheridan is an alumnus of St. Peter’s College and Rutgers Law School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968-70, according to NBC Philadelphia.
