Free Car Seat Safety Check Thursday In Haddonfield

A free check for parents and guardians at Haddon Fire Company on Thursday will help keep babies and children safe in the car.

The National Highway Traffic Security Administration says 42 percent of children killed in car crashes in 2020 were not restrained. Haddonfield Police Department officers and Haddon Fire Company No. 1 will be conducting safety checks on Thursday.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — Make sure you have the right car or booster seat for your child, and that it is installed properly, at a free check Thursday in Haddonfield.

The safety check will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. behind Haddon Fire Company at 15 North Haddon Avenue.

Haddonfield Police Department officers and Haddon Fire Company No. 1 will be conducting checks.

In passenger cars, car seats and booster seats reduce the risk of fatal injuries by 71 percent for infants and by 54 percent for toddlers (aged 1-4), according to The National Highway Traffic Security Administration (NHTSA). Still, car crashes are a leading cause of death for children aged 1-13, the NHTSA says.
