South Jersey Father Charged With Beating 8-Month Old Daughter

The child is rehabilitating after being hospitalized for a month. Three children have been removed from the home.

A Malaga man has been charged with assaulting his eight-month old daughter, causing her skull to be fractured and retinal hemorrhaging indicative of a child who has been shaken.

Michael Rodriguez, 25, was charged on Thursday, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office announced Friday afternoon.

He is charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The injured child is undergoing rehabilitation after being hospitalized for more than a month at the Alfred I. Dupont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware.

She was initially hospitalized on Nov. 5 after Rodriguez reported her labored breathing in a 9-1-1 call.

The injured daughter lived with Rodriguez, his wife, a twin brother and year-old sister.
