HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ - Haddon Township police collected 350 pounds of unused or expired prescription drugs for disposal during its Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27, police announced.
The event gave Haddon Township residents the chance to dispose of unneeded and expired prescription drugs. The goal was to help local residents to rid their medicine cabinets of unused and easily abused opioid painkillers, in addition to any other unneeded prescription medications.
"Six million Americans misuse controlled prescription drugs per year," police said. "Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet."
