Haddonfield Baseball Team Falls In First Round Of Diamond Classic

Haddonfield fell to St. Augustine, 12-5, according to nj.com.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — Josh Hood’s RBI double in the top of the fifth inning proved to be the difference as the St. Augustine Prep School baseball team defeated Haddonfield, 3-2, in the first round of the 44th annual Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic at Washington Township on Sunday, nj.com reports. Greg Elfreth scored the winning run, according to the report.

Joe Small struck out nine batters and walked two for Haddonfield, according to the report. Mike Miles picked up the win for St. Augustine. St. Augustine faces Washington Township, an 11-5 winner over St. Joseph (Hammonton), in the second round.

The rest of the schedule for South Jersey’s unofficial baseball championship tournament is up in the air. Games originally scheduled to be played on Saturday were postponed due to rain. Four of the first round games were played on Sunday, but the other four were postponed a second time. To view the updated schedule, visit nj.com.

Haddonfield fell to 12-5. The next major date on the schedule comes later this week, when the Bulldawgs learn where they are seeded and who they will face in the first round of the state playoffs.
