Haddonfield Boys Basketball Captures Second Straight State Title

The Bulldawgs defeated West Side on Sunday to win the NJSIAA State Group 2 title.

HADDONFIELD, NJ - The Haddonfield Memorial High School boys basketball team is the state champion yet again.

Haddonfield defeated West Side, 64-53, to win its second consecutive NJSIAA State Group 2 championship and seventh overall, according to nj.com.

Drew Gavranich lead the way with 17 points, five rebounds and two assists, according to the box score. Mike DePersia had 16 points, one rebound, three assists and a steal in the win.

Haddonfield (31-1) is riding a 21-game win streak as it heads into the Tournament of Champions on Wednesday, March 13, against State Group 3 champion Moorestown. To view the full Tournament of Champions bracket, visit nj.com.

Haddonfield advanced to the state final by defeating Manasquan, 53-43, in the state semifinals. Aiden Blake led the way with 16 points in that one. Gavranich had 10.

Last week, Haddonfield defeated Camden, 69-67, to win the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 title. Dan Fleming led the way with 28 points, followed by DePersia with 19.

Haddonfield was in the championship game following a 51-30 win over West Deptford in the semifinals. Ben Cerrato lead the Bulldawgs with 13 points in that one.

In the quarterfinals, Haddonfield downed Pennsauken Tech, 67-40, behind 18 points from Fleming. Haddonfield opened the tournament with a 70-33 win over Barnegat. DePersia had 16 points in the win.
