Haddonfield Boys Cross Country Dominates at Briarwood Invitational
Haddonfield Boys Cross Country

By taking 5 of the top 6 places in the Briarwood Invitational’s small school varsity race on Saturday, September 13th, the Bulldogs sent notice by taking first place that they plan to pick up where they left off after last year’s successful run to the NJ Group II State championship. Haddonfield’s top pack averaged 17:05 over the muddy hills of Belmont Plateau (13 seconds faster than last year’s race), and maintained a tight 28 second spread between their first and fifth finishers.
Finishing first and second were juniors Austin Stoner and Gregory Pelose in 16:53. Taking fourth was senior Danny Brennan (17:07), followed closely by senior Chad Evans in fifth (17:08), and junior Colin Gallagher in sixth (17:21). Sophomore Brandon Quanci (17th overall; 18:21) and senior Danny Stevens (27th overall; 18:39) rounded out the Haddonfield varsity seven.
The strong Haddonfield showing didn’t end with the varsity race. In the JV “A” race, Haddonfield junior Gavin Schmeck finished 11th overall in 18:20, and senior Blake Barr finished 12th overall in 18:26.
