Haddonfield Boys Cross Country Streak Reaches 200

HADDONFIELD, NJ — The Haddonfield boys cross country team reached yet another landmark in its storied history on Tuesday, September 26, notching its 200th victory in a row, a streak that stretches back to 1997. Wins number 199 and 200 came with shutout victories over Haddon Township and Collingswood. Haddonfield's Andrew Gostovich recorded the win, but it was a pack of Bulldogs taking over the first eleven spots and all within about thirty seconds of each other that made the victory possible.

The Haddonfield boys become one of only seven teams in US history to have a streak of this duration and have achieved the second longest victory string in South Jersey history . All of the victories have come under Head Coach Nick Baker. Since taking over the program in 1982, Coach Baker's team have compiled over 330 wins against only 16 losses. Haddonfield's boys cross country teams have also achieved more Sectional titles than any other team in the state, including the last 13 in a row, and fifteen State titles.

This year's team, led by Captains Richie Glennon, Derek Gess and Griffin Weiner, along with standout runners Greg Eisenhower, Martin Riddell, Ethan Spellmeyer, Stephen Kasko, Sean Campiglia and a deep supporting roster, hopes to continue the rich tradition of the past that has made this streak possible. With a strong start to the season that has led them to achieve the #1 ranking in South Jersey on the same day they recorded their milestone victory, it certainly appears that this legacy will continue.
