Haddonfield Couple Develops a Free Workshop Series to Educate South Jersey about Elder Care

Elder Law Attorney Grayson H. Heberley, III and Geriatric Care Manager Lori Heberley create a Caregiver's Workshop Series for South Jersey.

Grayson and Lori Heberley found something missing in the South Jersey community and they plan on providing it.

Many people in this thriving, well-educated area are stymied when it comes to planning care for their aging loved ones and they need information. The Heberleys are in the unique position to address this growing need. Grayson is a Certified Elder Law Attorney running his own practice in Haddonfield and Lori is a Geriatric Care Manager and the owner of South Jersey Geriatric Care, PC.

Grayson shares, “Every day I speak to people who are misinformed about what kind of resources are available to help care for an aging parent or to make a plan for themselves. There seems to be a lot of mythology out there about elder care planning and government benefits built on half-truths and gossip.”

Often individuals caring for an older loved one fear that the elder can no longer maintain their quality of life without help, but the caregiver doesn’t understand the array of services available, how to access these services, how to fund the sources, or even if the senior is capable of accepting the services.

To focus on this growing issue, the Heberleys have developed a free community workshop with caregivers of our community in mind. Their goal is to help families create a compassionate and secure plan for their loved one’s future, identify their situation’s unique needs, tap into programs and resources to address those needs, and learn about government benefits that can help with the cost of professional support.

Lori adds, “Developing a care plan for our elderly loved ones is often fraught with anxiety, and sometimes even guilt. Our goal is to clarify some of these issues and get families pointed in the best direction.”
