Haddonfield Football Team Downs West Deptford for South Jersey Title

Haddonfield defeated West Deptford, 27-0, according to nj.com.

For the second year in a row, Jake Klaus broke 100 yards rushing in a sectional final as the Haddonfield High School football team defeated West Deptford, 27-0, to capture the South Jersey Group II title at Rowan University on Sunday, according to nj.com.

Klaus had 105 yards rushing, including a 1-yard touchdown run. In last year’s championship win, he had 109 yards. Mike DeFeo also broke the 100-yard mark with 132, according to the report.

Mike Alberto had two touchdowns on the ground and threw for another for Haddonfield. He scored on runs of 25 and 6 yards, and threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Klaus.

Haddonfield finished the season undefeated, with a record of 12-0. West Deptford was 9-3.

Earlier this season, Haddonfield defeated West Deptford, 28-25, in overtime in what nj.com described as an “epic that will go down as one of the greatest games in this storied rivalry.”

Haddonfield entered the playoff as the No. 3 seed. It opened with a 37-0 win over No. 6 Woodstown, and defeated No. 2 Buena, 38-7, to advance to the final.

West Deptford entered the playoff as the No. 5 seed. It opened with a 45-16 win over No. 4 Glassboro, and defeated No. 8 Collingswood, 7-0, to advance to the final.
