Mr. Evans and his family donated more than $200,000 to support Haddonfield causes. Chizzy and his wife Ruth were named co-citizens of the year in 1993.

Chizzy passed away in 2001 but left a lasting gift for Haddonfield through a fund created by his family that continues to help underwrite activities the family supported.

A memorial plaque in Chizzy's honor was designated by the Borough to be situated at Crows Wood. The Haddonfield Foundation recently committed to providing funds to restore the plaque, which had become damaged over time, in honor of this great giving Haddonfield man.

The text on the plaque reads: "Chizzy Evans Grove, Dedicated by a grateful community in memory of Chizzy Evans, Borough Commissioner, State Legislator, Philanthropist, April 29, 2007"

For more than 25 years, The Haddonfield Foundation has fostered charitable giving for public purposes within the Borough of Haddonfield and among its citizenry to promote, maintain, and enhance the quality of life. The Foundation has granted over $1,000,000 since its beginning. The Foundation is now affiliated with the Community Foundation of South Jersey which offers back-office services, investment oversight, and planned giving support.
