Haddonfield Girls' Tennis Team Captures Sixth Straight State Title

Haddonfield will compete in the Tournament of Champions next week.

The Haddonfield High School girls’ tennis team won its sixth consecutive State Group 2 title on Thursday with a 3-2 win over Holmdel, according to nj.com.

Haddonfield picked up wins at all three singles positions, First singles player Victoria Martinez, Amanda Lanciano and Erica Pascocello all won their matches, while Holmdel triumphed at both doubles positions.

The Bulldawgs advanced to the state final with a 5-0 win over Mountain Lakes in the semifinals. The team didn't surrender a single set in that victory.

Haddonfield improved to 28-1 this season, and will participate in the Tournament of Champions next week.

Haddonfield is seeded second in the field, and will face the winner of a match between Pingry and Newark Academy on Tuesday at the Garden State Tennis Center in Edison on Tuesday in the semifinals.

Millburn is seeded No. 1.

The championship match is scheduled for Wednesday.
