The extent of the damage wasn't immediately clear. Haddon Fire Company No. 1, which serves Haddonfield, shared a photo of smoke emanating from the home and several second-floor windows busted.

"Thankfully, the residents are safe; but this is a challenging and heartbreaking situation," Mayor Colleen Bianco Bezich said in a statement. "Out of respect for the family impacted, we will not be releasing additional info at this time."

The mayor thanked firefighters, police and emergency personnel for their work at the scene.

Officials temporarily closed the 100 and 200 blocks of Chestnut Road, which impacted morning dropoffs at Central Elementary and Haddonfield Middle School. The roadway reopened later in the morning.
