Haddonfield Skirmish Postponed Due To Coronavirus

HADDONFIELD, NJ — The British are no longer coming. The annual Skirmish in Haddonfield has been postponed due to the outbreak of new coronavirus, Indian King Tavern Museum announced on Monday.

The event, previously scheduled for June 6, has been postponed to June 5, 2021, the museum announced. The debate between Jefferson and Hamilton on May 14 is also postponed, date TBD.

“While we are optimistic the threat of Coronavirus will not be here too long, we are certainly mindful that the threat and its impact may take some time to abate and felt it best to use that time to continue to plan so that come June 2021, everyone is prepared and ready for a spectacular event,” the museum said in its announcement. “Most important is the health, safety and well-being of our staff, community, re-enactors, supporters and local businesses and organizations.

The event marks the re-enactment of the type of skirmishes that took place in the historic town, leading up to the Battle of Monmouth in June 1778.
