Haddonfield Sports Roundup

It was another great week to be a Haddonfield sports fan.

The Bulldawgs continue to prepare for postseason play last week. This week promises to be more of the same with another full slate of games.

Tennis- Last week saw the start of the NJISSA State Tournament, as well as continued regular season play. As a team, they remained undefeated, beating Haddon Township, Pemberton, Paulsboro and Buena. Over the weekend, the girls competed in the state’s tournament as individuals. Taylor Ng reached the State Tennis Singles Championship, while the doubles team of Catherine Senopoulos and Victoria Martinez reached the doubles championship. It is Senopoulos’ third time in the doubles finals. This week, the girls have an away match on Monday against Woodstown, with a states match on Wednesday and a Colonial Conference Tournament match on Thursday. On Friday, Ng, Senopoulos and Martinez will compete in the state tournament finals.

Football- Dan Ciemniecki accounted for four touchdowns on Friday to propel Haddonfield to a 44-0 win over Lindenwold. Ciemniecki had two touchdowns through the air, a 35-yard touchdown run and a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown. Senior running back Chris Dengler added touchdown runs of 40 and 13 yards. Girls’ Soccer- Moved to 14-0 on the year, as they defeated Gateway and Holy Cross. The win against Holy Cross advanced Haddonfield to the second round of the South Jersey Coaches Tournament. In that win, senior forward Katie Johnston led the way with two goals. This week, the girls take on Overbrook on the road on Monday, travel to Haddon Township Wednesday, and return home Friday to take on Paulsboro.
