Aladdin is one of seven dogs competing for the American Humane Hero Dog of the Year award.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — A therapy dog from Haddonfield is up for a national award. Aladdin, a Ronald McDonald ambassador dog, is in contention for the American Humane Hero Dog of the Year award.

When he was found in 2013, both of his back legs and his tail were broken, he had open wounds and he was missing 12 teeth, according to his profile page on the competition’s website, where you can choose to vote for him if you wish.

His owner says he overcame every obstacle put in front of him and learned that no one would hurt him ever again, despite the abuse he suffered. He became a certified therapy dog within a year.
