Holiday Parade Canceled In Collingswood, Haddon Twp. Due To Weather

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — The Parade of Lights, a holiday tradition for Collingswood and Haddon Township, has been canceled because of predicted rain.

The annual parade, which travels through both towns, was set for Friday evening. But forecasters expect a significant chance of showers at that time.

The event has no rain date, since organizers didn't want to interfere with similar "parade of lights" events taking place around Camden and Burlington Counties for the remainder of the holiday season.

Westmont Fire Company No. 1 and the Collingswood Fire Department spearhead the annual event.

With forecasters expecting rain throughout the weekend, here's the National Weather Service's latest forecast for the Haddon area:

• Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
• Saturday night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Sunday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Sunday night: Showers likely, mainly before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
