Lane Reduction on Broadway in Camden Takes Effect Monday

The lane reduction is to accommodate the construction of an entrance to the new Holtec site at the South Jersey Port.

To accommodate the construction of an entrance to the new Holtec site at the South Jersey Port, a portion of Broadway (CR 551) in Camden will be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning Monday, Camden County officials said.

“This construction will accommodate a major investment in Camden, and represents the city’s rebirth as a job center,” Camden County Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, said. “Whenever you are driving through a road construction zone, please prepare for traffic pattern changes, and be observant of posted instructions or directions from police officers. In addition, finding an alternate route to your destination would also be advisable during the duration of this project.”

Traffic will alternate in each direction on Broadway between Morgan Boulevard and Woodland Avenue, so drivers should expect delays and give themselves extra time to reach their destinations.

Construction is expected to be completed in about two months. The exact timing of the project is dependent upon the weather and other factors.
