Haddon Township Backyard Hen Initiative To Hold Program

Gwenne Baile, chair and founder of Haddon Township Hens, an initiative to change the current ordinance banning hens in Haddon Township, announces that the group will present a program on the initiative at the Haddon Township Library on Monday evening, Nov. 3 at 6:30 pm.

The program includes a Power Point presentation on the proposed ordinance change and discussion with several experts about raising a couple backyard hens, no roosters, in the township.

It is hoped a hen from Audubon, where raising backyard chickens is not illegal, will be present, as well. The group had told Mayor Teague and the Haddon Township Commissioners that they would hold a program like this to educate the community and give factual information to the residents. Seats are limited and admission is “first come, first serve.”
