Katz was the founder and director of the Katz Foundation, which supported a wide variety of charitable, educational and medical causes.

His business accomplishments and philanthropy benefitted two boys and girls clubs in Camden, the Jewish Community Center in Cherry Hill, and Temple and Columbia universities, among other organizations.

In 2011, he and Dalsey co-founded the newly-renamed Katz Dalsey Academy Charter School, part of Camden’s Charter School Network, which now serves children from Camden’s Parkside and Cramer Hill communities.

Dalsey worked with Katz family organizations in various capacities since 2007, including as executive director of the Drew A. Katz Foundation.

Dalsey was raised in Pennsauken. Her 35-year passion and commitment to serving others could only be trumped by her love for her four children, Chelsea, Robert, Grace and John Dalsey.

Early in her career, she worked with organizations like Food Bank of South Jersey, Volunteers of America Delaware Valley, Cooper Hospital, Covenant House, The Michael Bolton Foundation, The Chris Evert Foundation and the Boys & Girls Club of Camden County.

Both Katz and Dalsey died in a plane crash in 2014.

Each year, the Community Foundation honors individuals and families who generously devote time and money to causes they care about as part of the Legacy of Giving Event.

Previous Legacy of Giving Awardees include Joseph Holman & The Holman Family (Holman Automotive), The Healey Family (Viking Yachts, Healey Education Foundation and the Healey International Relief Fund), and Robert Kugler (Attorney at Archer & Greiner, donor and chair of Symphony in C and longtime supporter of the National American Heart Association.)
