Lourdes Hospitals Recognized as "Top Performers on Key Quality Measures(R)" from The Joint Commission
Lourdes hospitals recognized for second year in a row
For the second consecutive year, Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County were both named a 2014 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America.
Lourdes’ hospitals were recognized by The Joint Commission for attaining and sustaining excellence in the following measure sets: Heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, immunization, perinatal care, and venous thromboembolism. Lourdes hospitals were two of only 1,043 hospitals, out of 3,300 eligible hospitals in the United States, that achieved the 2014 Top Performer distinction.
“At Lourdes, we have made it a top priority to address patient safety and quality health care by improving upon our evidence-based care processes,” said Alexander J. Hatala, President and CEO of Lourdes Health System. “We are proud to be named Top Performers again and thank our entire staff for its knowledge, teamwork and dedication. This recognition is a strong validation of our commitment to patient care.”

The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions. The performance measures included in the recognition program including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma, inpatient psychiatric services, stroke, venous thromboembolism, perinatal care, immunization, tobacco treatment and substance use.
