Lourdes Sports Medicine Expert Hosts Shoulder Injury Prevention Session
Free information session held Wednesday, February 24, at 3D Physical Therapy in Medford
When a pitcher throws a ball, it places extremely high stress on the shoulder, specifically to the anatomy that keeps the shoulder stable. Shoulder injuries occur in baseball pitchers, but they can be seen in any athlete who participates in sports that require repetitive overhand motions, such as volleyball, tennis, and some track and field events.
In addition to athletes, overuse shoulder injuries can happen to anyone who uses their arms and shoulders in a repetitive motion. High stress on the shoulder joint can lead to a range of shoulder injuries, according to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
To help educate parents, coaches, athletic trainers, and anyone who can benefit from shoulder injury prevention information, 3D Physical Therapy is offering a free lecture on Wednesday, February 24, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., called Shoulder Conditions and Medical Management. The event will take place at 3D Physical Therapy’s Medford location, Sharps Run Plaza, 175 Route 70, Suite 19, in Medford, NJ, and will feature Dr. Sean McMillan, Chair of Orthopedic Sports Medicine at Lourdes. Refreshments will be served.
