Man Accused Of Mass Shooting Charged With 2013 Camden County Murder

CAMDEN, NJ — A man accused of killing four people in Ohio was also responsible for a 2013 slaying in Camden, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday. Martin Muniz was charged Monday with first-degree murder in the 2013 death of Jaime Molina.

Molina, of Camden, was shot on Oct. 30, 2013, and pronounced dead hours later at Inspira Hospital. The investigation into his death remained active since, the prosecutor's office said.

In a separate incident last January, Muniz fatally shot four people and wounded an 8-year-old girl in Cleveland, according to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office in Ohio. All the victims were family members, Cleveland 19 News reports.

Muniz, 41, remains in custody at the Cuyahoga County Jail in Cleveland. He faces the death penalty if convicted.

On Jan. 14, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office received word that Muniz was arrested in Cleveland during an unrelated homicide investigation. At that time, Muniz provided information to detectives regarding Molina's death, which resulted in a first-degree murder charge from the CCPO.

In Cleveland, Muniz shot each victim in the head in separate rooms of a house, according to law enforcement in Ohio. Angelic Gonzalez, 34; her 69-year-old father, Miguel Gonzalez; and her 16-year-old son, Jayden Baez, were pronounced dead at the scene. Anthony Boothe, 48, died days later at the hospital.

Boothe's 8-year-old daughter was hospitalized but survived the shooting.

Police confirmed that Angelic, Miguel and Jayden were Muniz's sister, uncle and nephew, respectively. Boothe was Muniz's brother-in-law.

The state of Ohio last executed someone on death row in 2018.
