Man Convicted in 2015 Drug Deal Involving Heroin and Cocaine

A Camden man has been convicted in connection with drug distribution in 2015, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson said.
Edres Carter, 29, was convicted for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of CDS with intent to distribute and possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school.
Carter was found guilty by a jury of making a drug deal with an unidentified man in the area of the 1100 block of Thurman Street in Camden on June 10, 2015.

Carter gave the man items from a white bag in exchange for money.
Carter was arrested with 79 bags of heroin and 10 bags of crack cocaine from the white bag after officers assigned to the U.S. Marshals Task Force saw him make the deal.

Carter faces a mandatory extended term because of his prior convictions for possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school. He faces a maximum of 15 years in state prison and must serve at least 7.5 years before being eligible for parole.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 29.
