Man Killed Haddon Twp. Woman, Discarded Her Body In Camden: Prosecutor

CAMDEN, NJ — Weeks after a Haddon Township woman's body was found in Camden, a man was charged with murder, officials said Wednesday.

Carlos Acevedo was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in the death of Cathleen McGrath. The victim's remains were discovered Nov. 15, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office (CCPO).

McGrath was 26.

Acevedo, 53, of Camden, was charged Nov. 28 with second-degree disturbing human rights. He was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility. Authorities brought the murder charge after further investigation, the CCPO said.

Just before 2 p.m. Nov. 15, the Camden County Police Department received a 911 about a body discovered around 8th Street and Atlantic Avenue in the City of Camden. Authorities identified the victim shortly after.

The circumstances around McGrath's death weren't immediately clear. Patch contacted the CCPO for additional information and will update with any response.
