Man Shot Near Rutgers-Camden, Suspect Charged: Prosecutor

CAMDEN, NJ — A suspect has been charged after shooting and wounding a man last week near Rutgers University-Camden's campus, authorities said.

Malcolm Jordan, 33, of Berlin Borough, shot a 36-year-old Pine Hill man at about 2 p.m. Feb. 13 on the 300 block of Lawrence Street, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office (CCPO). The street runs through the campus.

The victim, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was dropped off at the hospital in a private vehicle, authorities said. His current condition wasn't immediately clear.

Neither the suspect nor the victim are students, according to the CCPO.

Jordan was charged Wednesday with attempted murder (first-degree), unlawful possession of a weapon (second-degree), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (second-degree), certain persons not to possess weapons (second-degree) and aggravated assault by pointing a firearm (fourth-degree).

He was arrested Friday in Philadelphia and will be held in a city jail, pending an extradition hearing.
