MEND Named NPO of the Year by Non Profit Development Center of Southern New Jersey
Moorestown Ecumenical Neighborhood Development, Inc. (MEND) has been named the “Non Profit Organization of the Year” by the Non Profit Development Center of Southern New Jersey (NPDC-SNJ).
In a ceremony held at the Adelphia in Deptford, MEND was recognized for its “numerous contributions to and measurable impact on the South Jersey region” throughout the year.
During 2014, MEND has completed rent-up of 74 new apartment units for the elderly and those with special needs in Burlington Township (Springside School) and began construction of another 153 such units in Egg Harbor City and Florence Township. These three projects have a total development cost of $51 million; and will create an estimated 495 construction jobs and 51 permanent full-time jobs.

According to MEND President/CEO Matthew Reilly, “MEND is honored and pleased to be chosen for this award by NPDC-SNJ. We see our mission and role in the region to be two-fold: maintain and expand the supply of affordable rental housing for those who might otherwise be homeless; and contribute to the diversity, vitality and economic strength of south Jersey. Our apartment development, construction and property management operations make an important contribution in both these areas. Affordable rental housing production addresses a desperate need while also creating multiple financial benefits for our region.”
