Mentoring Program on Excessive Force for Camden County Police

Camden County Police entered into a new mentoring program that emphasizes using the minimal amount of force needed to deal with a threat or conduct an arrest, the Courier Post reports.

Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson said his department has developed a culture that puts a priority on service to the community, but that culture must be maintained, according to the report.

He describes the program as “ongoing mentoring exercises” meant to sharpen communication skills, de-escalation techniques and ethical awareness, according to the report.
