Mosquito Spraying In Haddon Township Friday Morning

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Residents in parts of Haddon Township may see trucks spraying for mosquitoes early Friday morning, county officials said.

On Wednesday, the county said a Haddon resident has tested positive locally for West Nile virus. The health department, officials, and the Mosquito Control Commission said spraying will continue even though summer, the traditional time for these bloodsuckers, have ended.

Commissioner Jeff Nash reminded residents to check for standing water around their homes to help eliminate places where mosquitoes breed.

"Mosquitos need standing water to breed, so you can help keep them off your property by removing water from places like flowerpots and containers," said Nash, who is liaison to the Camden County Mosquito Control Commission.

The spray is not harmful to humans or pets, the county said, but those who have respiratory concerns or are sensitive to irritants should avoid direct contact.

The Mosquito Control Commission will conduct ULV spraying operations from the hours of 2-6 a.m. on Friday, September 30 in the following locations:
