Mount Holly Police Department Welcomes New Chaplain Pastor Timothy L. Hutton, Sr. of Second Baptist Church

First Police Chaplain to Join the Mount Holly Police Department

The Mount Holly Police Department recently gathered to welcome their new Chaplain, Pastor Timothy L. Hutton, Sr. of the Second Baptist Church in Mount Holly (306 Washington Street, Mount Holly, NJ 08060). Pastor Hutton is the first Police Chaplain to join the Mount Holly Police Department.

“We would like to welcome and officially recognize our department’s new Chaplain, Pastor Tim Hutton,” said Mount Holly Police Chief Thomas F. Mastrangelo. “Pastor Tim is an incredibly valuable resource to our department. From rookie to veteran, he is here to assist us all – serving as the visible embodiment of our department’s work ethic and upholding our department’s values.”

Pastor Hutton was licensed to preach in 1974 at the age of 10 at the Friendship AME Church in Browns Mills, New Jersey, under the pastorate of his father. Pastor Hutton was certified as a chaplain from The Chaplains University (TCU) International Coalition of Pastors & Chaplains of New Brunswick. He was ordained in 1987 by the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and in 1991 by the Missionary Baptist Church. He has previously served as pastor at Cumming Cathedral A.M.E. Church in Sicklerville (1988) and the Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church of Glassboro (1994–2007).

In addition to serving as Pastor of Second Baptist Church, Pastor Hutton is the president of TL Hutton Ministries Inc. Additionally, he is a New Jersey licensed funeral director, as well as owner/CEO of TL Hutton Funeral Services & Consultants LLC and manager of The W.R. Woody Funeral Home in Burlington. Pastor Hutton also serves as the president of the Repairers of the Breach Community Development Corporation and is a traffic control supervisor at the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

Pastor Hutton serves as chairman of the Board of the Minority Clergy Council and Fellowship of Churches of Mount Holly and vicinity, and past-president of The Rancocas Valley Clergy Association. He is past-member of the Executive Board of The Primitive Baptist Association of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and past-president of the Church School Convention.

Pastor Hutton received his education from African Methodist Episcopal Church Ministerial Training Institute, Burlington County College, Mercer County College and Shaw University. He earned a business science degree in mortuary science and a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies. Additionally, he holds a doctor of divinity degree from Apex School of Theology in Durham, NC.

He currently resides in Mount Holly with his wife, Dawn. The couple has eight children and three grandchildren.
