UPDATE: National Weather Service Increases Expected Snow Total for South Jersey

The expected accumulation doubled Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service has doubled the expected snow accumulation totals for South Jersey.

As of Sunday evening, the NWS was predicting accumulation of 14-24 inches of snow from an impending storm.

The previous expected accumulation was between six inches and a foot.

The Nor’easter is expected to start as light snow between 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday and then ramp up during the day and into the night before finally ending on Tuesday, according the National Weather Service.

The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch for South Jersey for Monday night through Tuesday morning.

Winds of 10-15 mph with wind gusts up to 20 mph are expected on Monday, followed by winds of 15-25 mph with wind gusts up to 30 mph Monday night into Tuesday.

Area emergency management officials are offering tips to get you through the storm.

Please remove all vehicles from the roadway to allow plows to properly do their job. Please remove all trashcans, trash and debris from the roadway so plows don’t have to go around them.

Please make sure you have the supplies and medications you will need over next few days. Check on your neighbors, including the elderly. If you have to venture out during the snow, remove all snow from your car before driving.

Visibility will likely be reduced to one quarter to one half a mile at times.
