More than 7,000 people are without power in Haddonfield and Haddon Township Wednesday night after two storms tore through the region.

More than 7,000 people are without power in Haddonfield and Haddon Township Wednesday night after two storms tore through the region. A storm that has been classified as a derecho earlier Wednesday was followed by a storm that included both a tornado warning and a severe thunderstorm warning Wednesday night.

A total of 4,099 PSEG customers in Haddonfield were without power as of 11:23 p.m. Wednesday night. Another 3,588 PSEG customers in Haddon Township were in the dark. Power in both municipalities was expected to be restored by midnight Saturday.

"Trees and wires are down throughout the town (widespread)," Haddon Fire Company No. 1 said in a Facebook post. "Now is not the time to take children for walks or for people to jog. Assume the wires are live as in you can be electrocuted. We have witnessed close calls with people walking, kids riding bikes and people driving over down wires."
